Word Wednesday: pulchritude

Pulchritude: (noun) Beautiful.

This word caught my attention, because it makes me think of a prisoner or a hostage, and I like the idea of beauty as something that might cage a person. I used it in a poem titled “drug girl.”

An excerpt from that poem:

standing skinny with long wet hair/a street pulchritude talks to herself/loud and lost solipsistic iterations /ineluctable pools of brown eyes/drop drips chased and chasing/and too distant for me to taste
